About the Role
As Communications Officer, you will work closely with the Communications Lead to deliver a broad range of communication and engagement activities.
This is a hands-on, varied role spanning content creation, media support, digital channels and project coordination. You’ll contribute to key organisational outputs including the Annual Report, stakeholder communications and campaigns that raise awareness of EWON’s services.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop EWON’s publications and promotional materials including writing and editing content, liaising with media outlets for advertisements, and ensuring branding is consistently applied across the organisation.
- Manage media monitoring and liaison, including selecting and distributing daily media updates, preparing media releases and Ombudsman talking points, and maintaining accurate media contacts and distribution lists.
- Support online and social media activities by reviewing and updating website content, assisting with video production and asset management, and drafting and editing social media posts.
- Assist with project planning and coordination, including digital campaigns, the development of EWON’s Annual Report and policy-based reports, undertaking research to inform project design and messaging, and analysing analytics to improve outcomes.
- Identifies opportunities to improve EWON’s communications and awareness raising according to current best practice.
Required Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications and/or demonstrated experience working in a similar role.
- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail, with the ability to adapt style for different audiences, rewrite complex technical information in plain English and write accessible and SEO-optimised content.
- Experience drafting media releases, preparing media responses and pitching stories to journalists.
- Demonstrated project planning and coordination skills, including for large-scale publication development like Annual Reports or large events e.g. forums.
- Workplace skills including ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and ability to manage competing tasks and meet deadlines.
- Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft 365 (Excel and PowerPoint), Content Management System, EDM software and CRM tools and systems.
